Malay-Muslim Wedding Reception – Discovering Peanut Candy

You never know what life in Malaysia will bring your way, and this was never more apparent to me as when I was spontaneously invited to my very first Malay-Muslim wedding reception in Kuala Lumpur.  It was so lovely, with such beautiful traditions and customs, and so splendid to behold.  The setting looked like the scene from every little girl’s fantasy of what her wedding day would look like, it was magical.

Because I was the +1 of a guest and not a guest of the bride and groom, I’m limiting how much of the celebration I’m sharing publicly.  BUT I discovered my new favourite sweets there, as you’ll see in the video.  If you can help by identify them and telling me their name and what to ask for at the shops here in KL, I would be most grateful.

XOXO Angela

At 21 I left uni, jumped into my Jeep Wrangler, and drove from my native California to live an adventure in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I've explored 37 countries on 4 continents, residing in 8 of them (currently Indonesia's Riau Islands is my home). I even have a private pilot's license and was shot at once by bandits!

Hi there! Love reading your stories. 🙂 The peanut candy is my favourite too. It’s actually called as Barley Peanut Candy. I ate it a lot during my childhood, but not so much now. But still love it! As I grew up, I almost forgot about it until I found it in my goodies bag from a wedding. You can find it in groceries shop here. Hmm, maybe tesco have it. There is a kiosk in Alamanda Shopping Mall selling it. Or you can order it online :

Now I’m craving for it! Hehe.
    Hope this info helps!
